OK, this does make sense! For a second I wondered why you dont store the
mode in addition to the frequency for the Announcement window, but then I
realised that packet spots dont have any mode information so you have to
guess  the mode based on frequency! Unfortunately I cant verify this with a
radio at present as I my 1000mp is not here. But I will try and ask somebody
who has access to it to try it out in the next 1-2 days!

Unfortunately as I mentioned  I have no radio right now. Please forgive my
ignorance but is it to do with the wrong mode being read/written ? as
1000mp  has 2 CW modes CW and CW(R) you can send (02H 0CH (CW) and 03H 0CH
(CW-R))  but  only one you can read (bit 5,6,7 byte 7 of 16 byte data record
= %010 (CW)) ??
