First, Win-Test band maps will track all Icom radios much faster and
smoother if you check the box at the bottom of the *Interface Configuration*
dialog that says *Use CI-V Transceive*, but you *must* also set the radio's
menu:
IC-7300: *SET > Connectors > CI-V Transceive* to *ON*
IC-9700: *SET > Connectors > CI-V > CI-V Transceive *to *ON*
If you use any other software such as Log4OM that uses OmniRig, it will
automatically set CI-V Transceive OFF every time, because OmniRig can't
work well with CI-V Transceive ON, so you will have to turn it back ON
manually yourself whenever you want to use Win-Test's fast native Icom CI-V
Tranceive support. You can also use my Win-Test script for Icom radios
called *IcomCIVon*, see https://bit.ly/wtscripts in IcomScripts.zip, but I
have not had time to add IC-9700 or IC-705 support yet).
If MMTTY is to do PTT or FSK keying via the IC-9700's second COM port, you
cannot specify that COM port in Win-Test, as DL1DAW points out. Only one
program can use each COM port.
You should *never* specify "Handshake" on any pin when using Icom radios.
Icom does not support RS232 Handshake.
The IC-7300 only supports one virtual serial port, so simultaneous FSK
keying via MMTTY and rig control via Win-Test is not possible unless you
use a separate USB-to-CI-V converter for Win-Test alone, then you can use
the IC-7300 virtual COM port for FSK and PTT keying for MMTTY, and the
virtual serial port for rig control from Win-Test.
To enable the native PTT and FSK (or CW) keying in these radios, you have
to use the USB Send and USB Keying menus.
IC-7300:
SET > Connectors > USB SEND to RTS
SET > Connectors > USB Keying (RTTY) to DTR (or USB Keying (CW) to DTR,
pick one or the other)
IC-9700:
SET > Connectors > USB SEND to RTS
SET > Connectors > USB Keying (RTTY) to DTR (or USB Keying (CW) to DTR,
pick one or the other)
SET > Connectors > USB Send/Keying > USB SEND > USB(B) RTS (or
USB(A) RTS for Win-Test PTT when using Phone or CW)
SET > Connectors > USB Send/Keying > USB KEYING(CW) to USB(A) DTR
SET > Connectors > USB Send/Keying > USB KEYING(RTTY) to USB(B) DTR
In Win-Test, the rig control Port (USB A) should be set to DTR=CW, RTS=PTT.
Far more details are explained with screenshots and even a video in the
