[WT-support] Use of iaru2018.xdt is allowed for WRTC2018 participants

Please consider adding the Extra Data Display window. I have additional HQ station information that is based on many years of operating IARU which I would like to use. I am not willing to widely share this information as I am not willing to guarantee it’s accuracy. So again, I am request this functionality.

Thank you for your consideration.

Oh, and if you haven't done so already, try enabling:

Tools | Data Entry | Exchange guessing | Automatically

Then the HQ prefix is prefilled as soon as the last letter of the call is typed, no need to press Spacebar or Enter.

Bud,

Did you see my post from yesterday <http://lists.f5mzn.org/pipermail/support/2018-June/085962.html> ? Since the .XDT file is a simple text file, and since therefore the Extra Data Window could potentially be abused (display extra information far beyond the HQ abbreviation), displaying the Extra Data window should continue to be disabled for WRTC competitors.

In Win-Test, the .XDT file and Extra Data window is not necessary to prefill the exchange. As long at the itu.dtb file is properly updated in the /Databases directory, Win-Test will pre-fill the HQ mult (perhaps incorrectly, if the database is wrong). It does this as soon as the complete call is correctly copied and entered by the operator.

For reference, the Extra Data window works the same way; full calls (not partials) must be entered before any information appears there. So, it offers little extra help when only used for HQ mults.

In sum, IMHO, the WRTC version of Win-Test needs no update unless you can find a bug regarding scoring or multiplier counting or dupe checking or similar.

The use of iaru2018.xdt file is allowed for WRTC2018 competitors. Below is a statement from the WRTC2018 FAQ’s which can be found at http://www.wrtc2018.de/images/PDF/WRTC2018_Competition_QA.pdf

“10. I understand that the super check partial (SCP) database is not allowed for the WRTC competition. In Russia or Boston, this same rule was implemented but they allowed a filled database for use with headquarter exchanges. Will this be allowed?

Yes, you may have HQ exchange information filled automatically, or manually. You may have it available on paper or in a database.”

I am unable to bring up the “Extra Information” window in the Win-Test 4.28 special WRTC2018 version. Would it be possible to fix this prior to WRTC2018. If a fix is not doable, is there a work-around?
