Actually, the "USB Icon" thing looks pretty strange. Even if Win-Test 
loose the communication with the MKII (which is unlikely), there is no 
reason why the USB would be disconnected.

I don't know Win7 much, but ensure there is no "USB controller energy 
management" engaged somewhere.

I guess you already tried to update the Compaq BIOS and drivers ?
