Mmhhhh... I have a silly question : Before remapping this key, have you 
tried to use the "=" key with no Shift ??? And, also, using the "." key 
is a bad choice IMHO. It could be useful to enter a frequency !

Sure you can. Just select the character on the left side of the table, 
and hit the Delete button.
