[WT-support] Win-Test for install question

I strongly recommend installing Win-Test 4 in a separate place, such as
C:\Program Files\Win-Test 4 or \WT4, rather than "directly over" version 3.
You could also rename C:\Program Files\Win-Test to Win-Test.V3 before the
install, but that will break your existing WT 3 shortcuts.

See this post <http://www.f5mzn.org/pipermail/support/2009-July/077694.html>for
tips on migrating your configuration files from Win-Test 3 to Win-Test
4. It is a cumbersome manual process. Note that you need a different reg.
key for V4, which you must obtain after installing V4. Use the traditional
method (Help | Regsiter Software ...).

There's also a follow-up
post<http://www.f5mzn.org/pipermail/support/2009-July/077695.html>
.

Maybe some day the installer will be upgraded to copy the old V3 .ini, .xdt,
.wav, and .dtb files to the new locations in the C:\Documents and Settings\
folder, but for now it does not do that and you will lose all your settings
if you don't follow the migration procedure I mentioned above.

Note that version 4.0.1 has a really scary bug that will fill up your hard
disk if you try to double click on an old .wtb file after installing it.
Therefore, install version 4.1.0-dev instead of 4.0.1. Get it from:

http://download.win-test.com/v4/nightly/wt_dev.zip (password-protected web
page)

Use the same password that you were sent when you upgraded to V4.

Note also that version 3.27 has a significant bug (missing menu Tools | Data
Entry), so install 3.27.1-dev to get around that problem:

http://download.win-test.com/nightly/wt_dev.zip (no password required)

Finally, for either version, don't forget to run wt_dev.exe instead of
clicking on the WT icon. Otherwise you'll be running the old (buggy)
WT.EXE.
