"Serial number reservation" is easier said than done. As N6ML pointed out:

"Win-Test does not have a number reserve feature because it [Win-Test]
(intentionally) lacks a central data master."

Source: http://docs.win-test.com/wiki/Multi-op/Issues/Sequential_serials

So there are two ways around it:

   1. Press [Enter] as soon as you want to reserve a serial number, then
move cursor up one line to complete the QSO. You may have to enter received
serial number 0 and a partial or dummy call before pressing [Enter]. This
is the only way to "reserve" a serial number.
   2. Log QSOs normally, but correct sent serial number errors by moving the
cursor up one line, then from the WinTest menu select *Edit, Edit Serial
number* ... . It is cumbersome, but it works.

Suggestion for the Win-Test developers: for a contest like WPX with serial
number exchange, the [Tab] key or the [>] key could move the cursor to the
Sent Serial No. column instead of to the RST Sent column as it does today.
You could then correct sent Serial Numbers without having to reach for the
mouse and use the menu.
