[WT-support] FT1000D working

I am not sure if they are connected or not in all honesty Bob. The board that has the transistors and resistors right behind the DB9 connector is quite small and hard to trace and since this is working now I am not even going to bother to try to figure it out.
The 1000D is version 6. I connected a 990 and it works as well with these same settings. Go figure.

At least now I can get back to getting all 7 operating positions set up.

Finally figured out the problem why the FT1000D would not track.
RTS and DTR in the config have to be set to HANDSHAKE.
    Default settings would not work.
This is probably the case on the two 990's that I have as well and I will check into that first chance I get.

Well done Bob, but I don't really understand why this would make a difference. The DTR (DE-9 pin 4) and RTS (DE-9 pin 7) lines are not connected to the 6 PIN CAT connector, are they? Are they shorted together?

  From the FT-1000(D) Operating Manual:

  CAT Connector
  Pin 1: GND
  Pin 2: SERIAL OUT
  Pin 3: SERIAL IN
  Pin 4: PTT
Pin 5: S/PO (does anyone know what this means?)
  Pin 6: NC

What version of EPROM is in these radios?

From the FT-1000(D) Operating Manual Errata & Addendum:

"To improve the versatility of external computer control of the FT-1000, a facility to read back only the current memory number, or a 16-byte block of VFO or specified memory parameters has been added to EPROM Q5003 on the Control Unit, from revision 6.0.

"The installed EPROM revision number can be non-destructively checked by holding the 1 and 3 keys at the upper corners of the keypad while switching on. The revision number appears after the display test and manufacturer ID display. If your revision is below 6.0, contact your Yaesu dealer for availability and price of the upgrade."

Perhaps Win-Test assumes the FT-1000D is at EPROM revsion 6.0 or higher, and will not read frequencies accurately if the radio has the old original EPROM chips.
