[WT-support] CW sending problem

Salaam Hamad

One thing I have noticed with WT and Microham is that often to really make any changes work you need to reboot totally (not restart) your computer

For me this has often cleared "mysterious" problems with settings

Maybe it will help you?

  Hi Hamad,

Did you adjust the PTT Lead and Tail settings for the Winkey inside the Router software (not Win-Test), as suggested by W4TV?

Are you using the Winkey default settings 1200,N,8,2 DTR=Handshake, RTS=Handshake? Try setting DTR and RTS to NONE in the Win-Test SETUP menu.

If it still doesn't work, try installing the new microHAM Router v8.3.1 and microKEYER II firmware version 5.2 which was just released 2 days ago. It has updates for the Eltima (virtual COM port) code.

  Download from:

  http://www.microham.com/contents/en-us/d29_downloads.html

If that doesn't help either, you may have to give up trying to use the Winkey with Win-Test and instead build or buy a legacy COM port keying circuit.

You can plug your paddles directly into the radio to use the Internal keyer of the FT-2000D. The FT-2000D uses the same software commands for keyer control as the Elecraft K3, so you can use the PageUp, PageDown, and AltV keyer control scripts from K3scripts.zip (see http://bit.ly/wtscripts) to sync the FT-2000D's internal keyer speed with the Win-Test COM port keying speed. It's all described in the documentation inside that Zip file. If you try it and it works, please let me know and I will add them to FT2000scripts.zip

I have tried all solutions but non of them worked the problem still remains, What is happening is that win-test is somehow is losing communication with winkey, because the router&win-test still reads the Freq OK but when I open configure interface page and without changing any thing the clicking OK the program shutdown. any other idea solution?

I have tried also disconnecting the paddle but the problem still exist.

      Hamad,

Make lead/tail changes (and WinKey settings except speed) in microHAM
Router. Router "masters" those values to prevent random changes when
the application unexpectedly closes and reopens WinKey.

Thank you for the reply Bob, the problem starts before i tab the paddle. i
will try to change the lead and tail time to 0ms. and for rig I'm using an
        ft-2000D.

If you tap the paddle while the WinKey is sending, or *just after* it has

finished sending, this puts the WinKey in "halt mode" (all messages
discarded, no more computer messages accepted), until you touch the paddle
again. It may help to set PTT lead and TAIL to 0 ms in the WKSETUP dialog
(type WKSETUP [Enter] in Win-Test logging window).

One reason I prefer to use WinTest COM port or LPT port keying, with a
separate paddle connected to the internal keyer of the radio, is to avoid
these WinKey quirks. With some radios you can control the internal keyer
speed via a LUA script so that it can stay in sync with the Win-Test keyer
speed (or sends 2 WPM slower, you preference). See
http://bit.ly/wtscripts (K3scripts.zip). I'm also trying to get this to
          work with newer Icom radios.

What type of rig are you using?

            Hi,

I have just installed a new PC in my contest station (win7 64 Bit)
and all went fine except that for unknown reason some time it is stop
sending CW and I have to press Esc or send a dit from the Paddle then it
will go back to normal. Still i'm not able to find exactly what causing the
problem. Any one had the same problem?

I'm using Microham Microkeyer II with the latest firmware and router.
