[WT-support] How to block Win-Test to be started twice?

My friend is over 70 year of age and not very well to computer. He is also
recover from an eye operation.

 

He has a setup with a MicroHAM box so he can work CW and DIGI in Win-Test
through the box.

 

However, when he open the 2nd Win-Test all setup between the box and
Win-Test is broken. He cannot fix it and he can also not always see that the
Win-Test already is open.

 

I do not live nearby and I also not always have the time to help him.

 

I was looking for a solution so he only can start Win-Test once – or
Win-Test tells that it is already running.

It sounds like you want to make it impossible to start two copies of
Win-Test at the same time, but I'm not sure why.  It might be useful to have
two copies running in some circumstances.  This is possible via the -i (ini
file option); one copy could use wt.ini and the other wt2.ini; one opens COM
ports, the other does not.

The correct path is Options -> Load contest at startup -> Enabled (version
4.10)

That is not working if you start Win-Test via Start menu in Windows and had
Win-Test added as a fixed program in the Start menu.

If you start Win-Test from the process line in the button of Windows, it can
only be started once, unless you right click on the icon and start a copy of
the program.

 

BTW I get not error when I start Win-Test for the second time not matter
from where I start Win-Test. I get an error on the COM port that are in use
on the first Win-Test program but nothing else.

1.	Start one copy of Win-Test
2.	Select Options -> Log -> Load contest at startup -> Enabled
3.	Exit Win-Test

Now if you try to start two copies of Win-Test at the same time, the second
will immediately generate a pop-up message: "filename.WT4 is already used by
another instance of Win-Test!".  Press OK and you will be able to exit the
second instance of Win-Test cleanly, via the menu: File | Close.
