Hello Bob et al!
Sri for my msg to Hellmut in german. It should go direct to him.

I use prolific and ftdi USB to RS232 adapter for a long time. No one has made meproblems. On the other hand i hear often from problems with the prolific chip. The secretis the way Microsoft has implemented the USB Port. If you ever put something into anUSB Port, Windows will recognize it for ever. Was the first user a FTDI chip all the sillyUSB port does, is to use this ftdi driver for ever. Try to find out the history of your USB Ports.A way to check this an the history is the utility program " USBDeview" byhttp://www.nirsoft.net   It shows you the history for every port and lets you wipe out all oldies. You will be astonished, what long forgotten hardware you had in use. Clean the complete history and then install the prolific driver. In Hellmut case the Elecraft andYAESU "8N2" as you wrote was the cause of trouble.

It seems no one has ever reported a problem like this using a K2 with Win-Test.
Are you using a USB-to-Serial adapter based on the Prolific chipset?  Those adapters have been nothing but trouble for many users.  They may work OK with some software, but not with Win-Test.  Try another USB-to-Serial adapter such as one with an FTDI chipset, to see if you still have the same issue.

With some USB-to-Serial adapters, you may have to set DTR or RTS to "Always ON" to get them to work.

If you are using a real serial port, not a USB-to-Serial adapter, make sure that in Win-Test Interface Configuration, the radio type is set to K2 Elecraft, "Don't poll" is not  checked, polling rate is set to "Auto".  Press the "Configure" button next to the port designated as Radio 1, then press the "Elecraft K2 default settings" button to reset all the COM port parameters to the proper defaults (4800,N,8,2 NO handshaking).

HI,

although properly set, in the options menu, the qrg received from a Elecratf K2 TRX is updated erratically.

Sometimes no qrg is displayed all, then again with 1/100 of the qrg, no second VFO, changes  about every second.

Anyone with same experience?

HNY and thanks,
