What do you see next to KH6YR in the log? If you see "-----" it means
Win-Test still thinks he is in Arizona and whatever edit you made did not
take. You said something about "permissions" being needed to edit the
file. I don't see that. Windows 7 and Windows Vista do strange things when
you are not signed on as administrator; it may have saved the file someplace
else. Log on as administrator and try again.

It's also possible that your text editor saved the file as
CTY_WT_MOD.DAT.TXT, which means Win-Test will still be using the old file.
Make sure Windows Explorer is displaying *full file names* so that you can
really see what is there. This
section<http://docs.win-test.com/wiki/Check_Partial_and_Np1_Files#Location>of
the Wiki has step-by-step instructions explaining how to fix this
major
Windows usability issue.

I also checked my machine and I have only one copy of each with a file date

Is this file date displayed by Win-Test or by Windows Explorer (details
view)? Win-Test just displays whatever is in the header (first few lines)
of the CTY file; it would be nice if it would also display the file's true
timestamp, but it doesn't. If you edit the header and Win-Test still shows
the old date after restart, then you know for sure that Win-Test isn't
reading the file that you edited.

I guess I should have stayed with CTWin and my old XP machine.

XP is a good choice, but CTWin would have had the same problem with placing
KH6YR into Arizona. CT lets you type KH6YR=KH6 in the logging Window to fix
that on the fly, but Win-Test doesn't.

If you still can't figure it out, please send me (zipped) your .WT4 file and
your CTY file (whichever one is selected by the CTYFILES dialog).
