ESM is short for "Enter Sends Message", and is only in V4 or later.

When enabled, it allows one to use the Enter key to:
1. Call CQ (F1 key)
2. If a station call is on the logging line, pressing the Enter key will
send the exchange (F2 key)
3. If the exchange is already filled in, it will log the station and
send the TU message (+ key)
4. If the exchange is not completely filled in, it will send "AGN AGN"
to the other station.

It makes CW/RTTY much easier, as you use one key for most of the
operations instead of the various F keys.
