[WT-support] WT 3.xx Not taking Registration Key

Hello Bob, et all, 

As I'm new to the support list, and browsing the archives last night I did not readily locate the thread re: the V3/V4 keys.

I have only last night purchased V4, but Herve, and Olivier are away.  Since I had not yet up graded to V4, I thought the robot would generate the Ver. Key associated with my account.

Yes I know I should have done all this before I left ZL, but I have not used this laptop with WT previously.  I'l have to put up with the restarts during the contest.

As has been mentioned here many times already, once you purchase an upgrade to V4, you can no longer get a V3 key via automated means.  The V3 keys don't work with V4 and vice versa.  Anyone who purchased Win-Test V3 after about June of 2008 should have already received an email with an automatic free upgrade to V4.  Those people cannot get a V3 key from the web site either, even if they never bothered to download their free V4 upgrade.

Download and install WT 4.2.0 from http://download.win-test.com/v4/bin/ (you will need the directory password sent via email to all who upgraded -- automatically or otherwise -- back in June 2009).  Use they key you have now with V4.2.0 and it should work fine.

You will need a different V4 key for each laptop (obtain here).

The only way to get a V3 key now may be to wait for the authors to return from FY5.

I have just arrived back in the US on Wed, 21 Oct for two weeks then back to ZL.  I will be operating CQWW.  I brought a laptop with me (HP Pavilion dv1000 / XP Home) which I have not previously loaded WT on.  I installed 3.25, received a registration Key, but when I restart WT the 1-2-3 box keeps popping up.  When the program starts I check the registration window, ALL info is there.  Tonight (Thursday) is the first chance I've had to test the system.

I also purchased a small ACER Aspire one, (10.1" Screen / XP Home)  same issue with 3.27.1.  Just my luck, Laurent is in FY5 now, so my V4 upgrade may not be completed before CQWW.

Any ideas?  I'm runing V3.26 fine back in ZL on my Win 98SE machine, and on another XP Home Box, no issues.  Maybe I'll just have to keep doing restarts as it does not seem to be taking the registration key.
