[WT-support] editing country files

Wayne . one thing that needs to be emphasized is that CTY.DAT is not
suitable for use with Win-Test. You should use either CTY_WT.DAT or
CY_MOD.DAT. AD1C not maintains all three versions.

For example, CTY.DAT has no mechanism for determining Canadian or US Zones.
CT had an INTERNAL MECHANISM for determining VE and US Zones from the
callsign.

I know Win-Test defaults to using CTY.DAT. Users should go to
OPTIONS-->DATA FILES-->COUNTRY FILES and select CTY_WT.DAT or CTY_MOD.DAT.
If you do this before generating a NEW LOG, nothing else is required to use
the selected file. If the change is made after a Log File has been
generated, open the file and then type RELOADNOW in the Callsign Field to
insure that the log uses the new Country File.

Well, in Win-Test 3.11 the CTYFILE command doesn't work. This was added in
version 3.21.

Instead, select, Options | Data Files | Country files ...

You can also get a much more up-to-date version of Win-Test from
http://download.win-test.com <http://download.win-test.com/> (3.23 is
current).

See http://download.win-test.com/nightly/release.txt for a list of all the
things added / fixed in the newer releases.

Using Ver 3:11 and updated AD1C 10/21/08.. The CQWW log shows any " TO"

TO4 and TO8 prefixes were active this weekend. I am unaware of on the fly TO
= option as in CT...

Win-Test does not support the TO4X=FS command like CT, but if you select the
up-to-date version of CTY.DAT, CT_WT.DAT, or CT_WT_MOD.DAT, there should be
no problem with TO4X and TO8Z.

In the CALLSIGN field of the data entry window, type CTYFILE and press
[Enter]. Note which country file is being used, and especially note the
"Installed release" date. It should say 2008.10.19 or later. Chances are
it does not. Press the [Download] button to retreive a new one, and then let
it reload your log -- no need to use a web browser or FTP.
