It did not matter if the qso was logged or not.

Bob,
I can't replicate this problem with WT 3.23 and K3 radios. Double-click on a 40m spot in the band map, a spot with an asterisk (*), the radio goes into SPLIT mode, DX frequency to VFO A, and the split frequency is set properly in VFO B. Double click on a spot with no asterisk, radio exits SPLIT mode and VFO A is set to the DX frequency. It doesn't matter what order I click on these spots, it always works as expected.
I didn't try logging any of these spots though. Does simple clicking on band map spots work or not?
Make sure your rig (FT-1000MP?) isn't in MEM TUNE mode on VFO A.

Operator here noticed the following:
Clicking on a spot in the bandmap which has a split works.
But, when he clicks on the next spot which has a split (the freq of the dx) the radio does not go to that frequency. Radio does not go to the transmit freq of the dx.
If he clicks on a call that is not a split, AFTER working a call that was a split, the next time he clicks on a split it works.
This is a bit hard to put into words...sorry.
