Thank you for sending the screen shot.  It looks like you redefined the [*]
key instead of redefining the [#] key.  The [*] key should appear in the
right hand column, not the left.

Many people think of it as "redefine the [*]" so they get it backwards.  You
are really redefining the [#] so that it does the same thing as [*], and the
[*] is not redefined at all, so both keys work.

To redefine a key, follow the four steps described
here<http://docs.win-test.com/wiki/Menu:Tools#Redefine_keyboard_keys>

 In step 2, press [#].  In step 3 press Numeric Keypad [*].

You might find it easier to plug in a full sized USB keyboard if you have
one available, then you won't have to worry about the NumLock switch when
redefining keys.

If I redefine the numbers, to get Shift+1 as 1 in the

I can't replicate this, but maybe it is something unique to the German
keyboard.  Try selecting the German keyboard mode first, then redefine the
keys.
