[WT-support] Special Initialization strings for radios (and winkey)?

Hi,

Does Win-Test have, by chance, in some .ini file or elsewhere thats
non-obvious, a way to send special initialization command strings to
Radios, or WinKey ?

What I would like to do is this: My K3 can be configured, either by
stored settings, or by serial command, to enable RTS and DTR for PTT
and CWKEY, respectively. However, when having the settings stored in the
K3, it means theyre active all the time, so I have PTT activity when
windows boots, or when some other unsuspecting software grabs the
serial port.
It would be nice if I could keep the K3 set that this RTS/DTR keying is
off by default, and only when I need it that way (read: when Win-Test is
running) it is automatically enabled. This can be done with a command
sequence via CAT control.

On a related note, during CQWW preparations, we found something
interesting about the CW keying.

When we originally switched to Win-Test, on our hardware, we found
general delay and other bad behaviour on the CW keying under Win2000 -
Win98 was OK. We were using our old CT leftover Parallel port
interfaces. Due to the problems, we switched mostly to Winkey
interfaces on our w2k stations.
Now, I tried the RTS/DTR keying, on the same machine, and found it
performing satisfactorily. It thus seems that the delay and garbled CW
we experienced came from the DLPORTIO kludge or is otherwise related to
the parallel port... So, if youre having CW quality issues with
the LPT port, go try the serial one...

73s,

Mario
