[WT-support] Configuring LPT and DX Doubler

Larry, thanks for the suggestion. I understand that a USB-Serial adaptor
won't work with the DX Doubler since it has the parallel (DB-25) interface.

With the port adaptor, the laptop has the parallel (DB-25) interface but the
computer does not identify it as particular Port. So, I believe that
Win-Test cannot use it.

Is that the correct situation, that the DX Doubler cannot work with my
laptop? Perhaps someone has this working.

By the way, I tried DirectIO and it does not seem to recognize this parallel
port either.

A word of caution here : Most (if not all) USB to Parallel adapter are
*NOT* compatible with Win-Test (or any other application driving the
output data pins). They only work for printers. Make a serious and
complete test of these adapters before adopting !

On the other hand, USB to serial adapters usually do the job.

PS : If you have to add an USB adapter of some sort, it would have been
much easier to use a USB-compatible SO2R device like the microHam MK2R
(http://www.microham.com/index1.html) or the HamRadioSolutions EZMaster
(http://www.hamradiosolutions.com/). BTW, they also integrate a WinKey
(one less box...). Just my two cents...
