Some DX-cluster programs send "bell" (Ctrl-G) symbol for every sent 
spot. Maybe it is the symbol you're talking about ? Usually, a 
SET/NOBEEP command can be sent to the DX-cluster to stop this annoying 
character. Check the syntax the cluster you're connected to.
