Hello Larry,
following a telephone discussion with Dieter, OE8KDK, some observations
I made yesterday (to be verified today) and test results provided by
Dieter as a result of our discussion, I am now either thoroughly confused,
or there is still more to the bridgehead issue.
The following observations of Dieter sum it up:
Assume a network cell on one computer, with a tunnel instance, and one instance
of WinTest. The WinTest network consists of several other cells with their respective
tunnels.
Several QSOs are logged, and appear in all logs.
The tunnel client of this one computer is then shut down to simulate a network outage.
Several QSOs are entered, then the tunnel client is restarted.
a) LogSync off
As expected, the missing QSOs will not show up at the computer.
b) LogSync on, BridgeHead ini setting = 1
As expected, shortly after the computer comes back to the network,
the log will be synced and all QSOs appear in the log.
c) LogSync on, BridgeHead ini setting = 0
Expected behavior would be that the missing QSOs do not show up in the log,
because no logsyncing should take place over the server.
Observed behavior is that after the next QSO is entered on that station,
the QSOs show up, thus proving some sort of logsyncing taking place over
the tunnel despite it should not happen because there is no bridgehead.
Can you please explain what is happening here, and furthermore please
let me know how I should configure the various stations in this network:
+-SiteASTN1-------Tunnel------Server
! !
+-SiteASTN2 !
!
!
+-SiteBSTN1-------Tunnel-------+
!
+-SiteBSTN2
if I want Site?STN1 and Site?STN2 to mutually logsync (in case one
of the PC's crashes), while turning any logsyncing via the tunnels
(Ie. SiteASTN1 to SiteBSTN1) off?
Best regards,
Mario
