My first thought was that the batteries in my wireless keyboard might be flat, so I fitted new ones – no change. I also saw a post recently that DX log had a few issues perhaps when the cluster traffic was very high and I wondered whether W_T had developed an issue. Of course traffic was high this weekend and although I had a separate computer on the network handling the link to VE7CC, the logging computer still had to accept the incoming spots over the network. So I killed the ethernet link and that made no difference either.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle"><o:p> </o:p></p><p class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">My next thoughts turned to a Microsoft update earlier in the week and I wonder if something has happened behind the scenes which affects Win-test. Finally I had installed version 4.31 this week, which could perhaps have introduced an issue.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle"><o:p> </o:p></p><p class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">I did think whether there was an RF problem with the wireless keyboard being affected by the high RF fields around the shack. This is unlikely as I’ve had that keyboard operating here for several years without any problem.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle"><o:p> </o:p></p><p class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">The effect seemed rather like the computer (an i7 with 4Gb RAM) was running out of processing capacity. But I would expect that also to affect the tempo of the outgoing CW, but that did not happen. No change in rhythm – totally normal. <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle"><o:p> </o:p></p><p class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">So my question is “has anyone had a similar problem this week in the contest – or indeed seen a similar problem with W-T in the past?”<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle"><o:p> </o:p></p><p class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">If this is a first, then I must have some strange fault condition which will take a bit of work to find, I think.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle"><o:p> </o:p></p><p class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">73<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle"><o:p> </o:p></p><p class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">Don, G3BJ / G5W<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;mso-fareast-language:EN-GB">Don Beattie, G3BJ<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;mso-fareast-language:EN-GB">President IARU Region 1<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;mso-fareast-language:EN-GB">Hares Cottage<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;mso-fareast-language:EN-GB">Woolston<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;mso-fareast-language:EN-GB">Church Stretton SY6 6QD<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;mso-fareast-language:EN-GB">United Kingdom<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;mso-fareast-language:EN-GB">+44 7802 922 219<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size:9.0pt;mso-fareast-language:EN-GB">g3bj.don@gmail.com<o:p></o:p></span></b></p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p></div><span>_______________________________________________</span><br><span>Support mailing list</span><br><span>support@win-test.com</span><br><span>http://lists.f5mzn.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support</span><br></div></blockquote></div></body></html>
