Some text editors may insert binary values (hex EF BB BF) as the first 3 bytes of the file as a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_file_signatures" target="_blank">File Signature</a> to indicate the file is encoded in "UTF-8", especially if you use "File, Save as, Text". Other programs may not do this. If you used a different editor to change line 1 to Cabrillo 3.0, that could be the explanation.
