Are you using an audio isolation transformer between the K3 and the PC? If so, remove it; it's not needed with K3 since it has a built-in audio isolation transformer.</div><div><br></div><div>Did you try using the K3 menu CONFIG:LIN OUT to increase the output level from the default 010? Or does it say =Phones (toggles from NOR to =Phones if you tap [1]).</div><div><br></div><div>Did you use the Windows sound controls to select LINE IN as the recording device for that sound card, or is it still set to the default (MIC)?<div><br></div><div>On Windows XP:</div><div><ol><li><b>Right click</b> on the speaker icon in the lower right corner of the Windows task bar (aka. the Windows System Tray). This is the USB sound card built in to the K3S. As a pure digital connection, audio quality should be better than using the analog cables, but that USB sound card goes away when you power off the K3, which can make Windows and Win-Test select some other sound card as the default, so things can get mixed up.</div></div></div><div><br></div><div>And yes, both TX and RX audio will be recorded, though TX audio is usually recorded at a much lower level. Here is my set up<br>
DELL T3500 XEON with WINDOWS XP PRO (SP3)<br>
TWO sound cards: one is a sound blaster LIVE, the other one is ON BOARD SOUND MAX FROM DELL.<br>
The transceiver is an Elecraft K3S.<br>
Win-test is vers is 4.23.<br>
In MP3 CONFIGURATION, the MPEG codec available is FraunhoferIIS MPEG LAYER-3 CODEC (PROFESSIONAL)<br>
I have tried many times with the two sound cards...to have a decent recording...but no joy yet....<br>
All I have is file witch is very weak in volume...<br>
The audio from theK3S is going to the LINE IN of the sound blaster Live...with max recording volume...<br>
The bargraph in Win-test doesn't move at all....<br>
I have tried also the second sound card.....line in/...same result....very weak recording....<br>
I have a question....is Win-test also recording TX sound????<br>
When I listen to the recorded files, I SO NOT HEAR MY TX SOUND....<br>
I wonder what am I DOING WRONG?<br>
I need help....<br>
By the way I tried also with WINDOWS 7.... same results....<br>
