Hello Bob,

Thanks for explaining the purpose of the CW Skimmer box in
wtDxTelnet, and letting me know to NOT check it.

Another mystery revealed, hi.
there is no DX Skimmer checkbox. Perhaps you mean the

please explain why checking the box would create the

I agree this CW Skimmer option in wtDxTelnet needs to be
explained better. I'll try to update the Wiki some day.

The CW Skimmer checkbox should never be selected unless you
have an SDR and are running CW Skimmer on a PC in your shack,
and you are connecting wtDxTelnet directly to that computer's
local telnet server (e.g. localhost port 7300). Do not
use it when connecting to a public RBN server or DX Cluster.

The SKIMMER/QSY commands are special
commands only recognized by CW Skimmer's telnet server, and
only generated when the CW Skimmer box is checked. They tell
CW Skimmer to move the cursor (in CW Skimmer) to a new
frequency.

Then you can use CW Skimmer as narrow
band scope (but it's not as useful as a P3, LP-PAN, etc.).
