To the best of my knowledge, the Icom Digital Voice Recorder, which can also be used as a Voice Keyer, cannot be controlled by any software at this time, not even Icom's. If anyone discovers otherwise, please let us know.

The published Icom software command set does not list any voice keyer playback or recording commands. I am 99% certain that this applies to all Icom radios, not just the IC-7000.

In contrast, the following radios fully support voice keyer playback from software:

Elecraft K3 (with KDVR3 option)

Kenwood TS-590s, TS-990s, TS-2000

Yaesu FT-2000, FT-5000

See http://bit.ly/wtscripts for the Win-Test scripts I've written to control the voice keyers of the radios listed above.

I am hopeful that Icom will eventually offer a firmware enhancement that will allow their voice keyer hardware to be controlled by PC software. Until that time, there is nothing else you can do other than build your hardware interface that accept's Win-Test's legacy "External Voice Keyer" control on the LPT port pins (if you have a computer with an LPT port), and translates these LPT signals into one of the four resistance values (1.5, 3, 5.2, and 9.9 K ohms) that are required by Icom. See the Icom External Keypad circuit in the Icom manual.

Maybe there's a hardware engineer reading this list who can build a prototype and share the design. Too bad it's so difficult to buy computers with LPT ports these days (USB-to-LPT adapters probably will not work).
