Hi All...got a few questions about what I am attempting...SO2R Single
Operator 2 Radio..involves one operator, one computer, two radios, two
amps, one foot switch,
an interface that switches audio and or keyer from radio to radio with a
couple of keystrokes..
SO2S...Single Operator 2 Stations is just that..it involves one Op, two
radios, two amps, 2 foot switches, a specially modified Heil headset with
two mics, two computers,
two of everything, and a specially designed audio switching device to put
audio in either ear(audio from left radio in left ear etc) or either radio
in both ears..this setup is far more intutive to use in the heat of
contesting...one merely steps on the appropriate foot switch on ssb and
that is the station that gets keyed..or use the appropriate left or right
keyer paddle to send cw...
lockouts...designed by W4DD...the same ones we used in my contest station
when it used to be a Multi-Multi...using the TX Enable line a signal is
sent from which either rig you wish to prioritize and it locks out the
other station...preventing transmitting on two radios at the same
time...necessary to comply with the rules...
So, what I am attempting is TWO SO2S operations from my qth...one will be
on 75 meters by W4DD using two stations simultaneously, but locked
out...then a second SO2S
effort by W4IX (using my club call W4KZ) on 15 meters...here in lies the
difficulty...to get each computer to communicate with the second station,
it needs to have a network connection provided by an internet switch..so
that any qso logged by 15m gets logged in the other 15m computer but not
logged in the 75 meter stations...since they could be on the same network...
I could do it with two different internet broadcast IP's, or I can get a
simple switch and install it temporarily between two computers so they
would only talk to each other...
If you think about it, SO2S makes more sense when you plan to spend a long
time in front of two radios...right radio...right foot switch....left radio
left foot switch...this is the ssb scenario..on cw it is just as easy with
right and left keyer paddles..
Hopefully I have explained what it is we are trying to do?
de Rick
