W2GD reminded me that Win-Test will not use DEFAULT.SCP or MASTER.SCP for
the Stew Perry contest, instead defaulting to use VHF.DTB, which will be of
limited use. To get around this limitation, copy MASTER.SCP to
STEW_PERRY.SCP and restart Win-Test.

See Task #184 <http://flyspray.win-test.com/index.php?do=details&id=184> for
more information about this longstanding issue. Perhaps the strange
behavior is caused by the use of Grid Squares or "Grid Locators" in the
exchange, which is unusual for an HF contest.

Here are some step-by-step procedures for those who may need it:

   1. First, if you have not done so already, change the Folder options in
Windows so you can see full and complete file names, with no part of the
file name truncated. Follow *all* of the steps described here
   <http://docs.win-test.com/wiki/Check_Partial_and_Np1_Files#Viewing_hidden_files_and_folders>,
especially the step telling you to *uncheck* "Hide extensions for known
file types", which Windows enables by default.
   2. On Windows Vista or later, right click on the Win-Test Icon, left
click on Properties, left click on Compatibility, then makes sure "Run as
an Administrator" option is checked, otherwise Win-Test will look in the
   wrong directory
   3. Download the latest copy of MASTER.SCP
   <http://www.supercheckpartial.com/MASTER.SCP> to the /Databases
   directory.
In Win-Test use File | Explore | /Databases directory to view the proper
location (c:\ProgramData\Win-Test\Databases on Windows Vista and later).
   4. Right click on the new MASTER.SCP you just downloaded
   5. In the pop-up window, left click on Copy
   6. Right click on an empty space in the /Databases folder
   7. In the pop-up window, left click on Paste
   8. Right click on the "Copy of MASTER.SCP" file Windows just created
   9. In the pop-up window, left click on Rename
   10. Type the new name STEW_PERRY.SCP and press Enter. Be sure to use an
   underline (_), not a hyphen(-)
   11. Restart Win-Test
   12. Right click on the Check Partial Window
   13. Left click on Used files list
   14. You should see STEW_PERRY.SCP listed, and it should have a current
   date

For pre-fill of grid squares, you will need a file named STEW-PERRY.DTB
which you can build from your old logs using File | Update database.
There's a 3-year old version at
http://download.win-test.com/databases/STEW-PERRY.DTB

Note that this file has a hyphen (-) in the name, but the check partial
file uses an underscore (_) in the name, so take care to use both names
properly.

Finally, enable Tools -> Data Enter -> Exchange Guessing -> Automatically
in the Win-Test menu.

Bob, N6TV
