[WT-support] WT-DX-Telnet // RBN ?

I think this must be down to the implementation on the new
telnet.reversebeacon.net relay server - it is a new system AFAIK (see
http://lists.contesting.com/archives//html/CQ-Contest/2014-06/msg00015.html)
. However, there is also a second relay at relay2.reversebeacon.net 7000 -
this DOES seem to work OK with Win-Test.
However - I also completely understand Pete's request that users connect to
'retail' clusters which take the feeds from the main RBN relays and
distribute out to the end users - that is a much more scaleable way of doing
things. If we all connect to the main RBN servers, they will be on their
knees again in the next major contest.

Pete,
It looks like your reply did not make it to the Win-Test support reflector,
because you need to be a subscriber. To subscribe, please fill out the form
here <http://lists.f5mzn.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support> . You have
the option to disable messages or receive them in "digest" form. I am cc:
to the list now so that they can see your response.
Thanks for fixing the script, but the issue we have now with
telnet.reversebeacon.net 7000 is that we cannot connect to it with Win-Test
any more. Win-Test supplies a program called wtDxTelnet that is like the
telnet program. It used to work fine to connect to this node, but now it
does not. The new server software seems to require CR/LF sequence after
every command. Before it would work OK with just LF. So, we get prompted
to login, enter a callsign, press Enter, and nothing happens. You can see
for yourself by downloading the free program:
http://download.win-test.com/wtDxTelnet/bin/wtDxTelnet-3.1.exe
If I use a command line telnet program from Windows, it works fine. We
think that's because the command line program adds CR/LF after every
command, but wtDxTelnet only adds LF, which doesn't work any more, because
something changed at the server.
For reference, here's how to enable the telnet command line client on
Windows 7:

We had a script die on the server yesterday. Felipe has fixed it and added
an auto restart.
Regarding different behavior of the RBN's own Telnet servers, we have been
running pure relay servers on those two nodes since WPX CW. They do not
respond to user commands, but should handle much larger throughput without
problems. I have sent repeated e-mails to various reflectors trying to
explain this and suggesting that people connect to the many "retail" DX
clusters that now offer RBN spots if they want to run user filters, do sh/dx
commands, etc.

I cannot get telnet.reverse-beacon.net 7000 to respond either. They have
been making changes to this node and it doesn't seem to work the way it used
to.
I suggest selecting another site listed at

Hello,
I am observing problems connecting to telnet.reverse-beacon.net
using wtDxTelnet.
This appears due to said server expecting CR/LF (0a 0d) as line
termination character, whereas wtDxTelnet only sends CR.
Anybody else seeing this, and have possible solutions ?
WtDxTelnet Version is 3.1.

Mario
