One important step in getting the LPT Port to work in Win-7 x32 or x64 is to
specify the proper Port Address in:
Options > Configure Interfaces.> Configure Printer Ports
The Port Address in Default Win-Test Configuration is 378h. This is the
original MS-DOS I/O Address for LPT1.
I'm think that people running Win-7 x32 or x64 will have fairly new PC's.
If your PC Motherboard has an On-Board LPT Port, there a good chance it will
be on 378h.
However, many new motherboards lack a LPT Port. In that case the LPT Port
will have to be added with either a PCI or a PCI-Express add-on card. In
that case, the LPT Port will use an entirely different address. To properly
configure the Win-Test LPT Port Address, first determine what it is):
1) Click on Control Panel > Device Manager
2) Expand the PORTS (COM & LPT) section by click on the "+"
3) Double-click on the PARALLEL PORT
4) The click on the RESOURCES Tab
5) You see something like:
I/O Range DFE8-DFEF
I/O Range DFE0-DFE7
6) Pick the first Hex Number (DFE8 in the above example) and enter that into
the Win-Test Printer Port Address Dialogue Box
