  Neil,

  Are you using Win-Test 4.2?

Is your IC-746 Pro using the default address (66h) or the IC-746 address (56h) (check the Icom menus).

In Win-Test, did you select Radio Type IC-746 or IC-746Pro?

Did you exit HRD before starting Win-Test?

Are you using a USB-to-serial converter or microHAM device or other virtual serial port, or a "real" COM4 serial port? If it's not a real COM port, maybe you need updated device drivers for Vista 64, or maybe you should try COM5 in case COM4 comflicts with some other port on your PC.

Have you tried setting DTR and/or RTS to Handshake when "Use CI-V" was NOT checked?

Please send me a screen shot of your Win-Test SETUP screen and COM port Config screen and any screens from a virtual COM port setup program.

Finally, powering everything off and on in sequence sometimes fixes things.

    1.. Power up computer
2.. Wait for boot to complete

    3.. Power up Radio
    4.. Start Win-Test

Do you have a laptop or other (non Vista) machine you can try?

I just got Win-Test today and was hoping to use it in the upcoming
CQWW contest this weekend. But no matter what I try I can't seem to
connect my Icom 746 Pro to the program. When I am in Ham Radio Deluxe
the connection works fine set to Com 4, 19,200 and with DTR checked.
In Win-Test I have tried the default which is both DTR and RTS set to
off, then I have tried DTR set to On, no luck. I have tried baud rates
of 9600 and no luck. I have tried with CI-V and polling set to both on
and off (all combos) and no luck. Does anyone have an Icom 746 Pro
working with this that you could share the settings with me? Or if you
know.... Oh, running Vista 64 here. Help?? -- Neil (W2NLS)
