[WT-support] trouble registering

After exchanging many emails and phone calls with W4QNW, I finally figured
out why he couldn't register the program.

Apparently Win-Test 4 was recently split into two versions, one that you can
register, and a free demo or "Trial Version" that is IMPOSSIBLE to
register. Did Win-Test 3 also work this way?

The "Trial Version"
page<http://www.win-test.com/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=1780>on the
Win-Test web site currently directs you to download

http://download.win-test.com/v4/demo/wt-4.2.0-demo.exe

That is what W4QNW was running. When you select "Help | Register Software,"
this version does NOT display your Computer Code, so there is no way to
register it. It simply directs the user to the web site pay for software.
That's what was causing all the confusion; he kept clicking "Help | Register
Software" but since he was running WT 4.2.0-demo, it never displayed a
computer code. So he was trying to use his assigned download password as a
computer code because that was all he had, but of course they are completely
different things.

Finally I asked W4QNW to download the "other" version of Win-Test from
the "Download
page" <http://www.win-test.com/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=1750>:

http://download.win-test.com/v4/bin/wt-4.2.0.exe

using his assigned password for the web site.

After installing this version on top of the wt-4.2.0-demo, Help | Register
Software finally worked as expected, and he was able to complete the
registration process. Note that you HAVE to EXIT the demo program first, or
else the install will not replace WT.EXE.

In sum, the new Win-Test registration process is more confusing than ever to
new users, especially those who start with the free trial version, because
now there are TWO completely different "demo" versions of Win-Test 4, one
called "Win-Test 4.2.0-demo" that CANNOT be registered, and another called
"Win-Test 4.2.0" that also runs (initially) in "demo mode," but it CAN be
registered.
