According the WT 4.1.0-dev Release
Notes<http://download.win-test.com/v4/nightly/release.txt>,
4.1.0-dev includes the following:
- Bugfixes in Contest Recorder:
- Infinite loop in MP3 file rotations. Tks DD5FZ.
- Memory Leak using LAME encoder.
- MP3 Codec enumeration in the player. WT was not always detecting
the appropriate Codec.
- Playback with Windows VISTA. Note that the LAME Codec is
an Encoder Codec only.
So since you want to use the contest recorder, I would definitely recommend
version 4.1.0-dev. Try it first with the Fraunhofer CODEC (Options | MP3
Configuration). If that doesn't work, try the "LAME" MP3 encoder.
To install LAME, download version 3.98.2 of the LAME ACM (Audio CODEC
Manager) from:
http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lame-dshow-acm.php
or the direct link
http://www.rarewares.org/files/mp3/lameACM-3.98.2.zip
Unzip the file, right-click on *LameACM.inf* then click *Install*. You
won't see much happen other than a quick dialog flash, but this does quickly
install LAME. It can be removed later via Control Panel | Add/Remove
Programs.
Finally, restart wt_dev.exe (not wt.exe until it it fixed!) and use Options
| MP3 Configuration to select the LAME Encoder. Then press the red "Record"
button to start/stop recording.
