Joop,
Did you press the [Use Ten Tec Omni VII default settings] button in the
SETUP menu to set up all the communications parameters?

   1. SETUP
   2. Set Radio1: Tentec Omni VII
   3. COMn: Radio 1
   4. Press [Configure ...] button next to COMn
   5. Press [Use Ten Tec Omni VII default settings] button
   6. Press [OK]
   7. Press [OK] again

This should work if your Omni VII and virtual com port are using the default
baud rate of 57600.
