Bob,
Glad that you are on top of WinTest!
Your warning to those who might encounter this problem at the start of the contest, when nobody wants to deal with software issues, is real service.
Thanks for buying a microphone and working me in CQWW when I was 6W1RY.
73, Al

Subject: [WT-support] ARRL Sweepstakes exchange guessing grabs data fromprior QSO with different call

After your ARRL Sweepstakes log starts filling with callsigns, strange things seem to happen. For example, if you work W6RK, then later try to log W6RKC (note: calls identical except for the last letter), data from the first QSO with W6RK doesn't get cleared from the other columns when you type the last letter of the new call (the "K"). This is assuming you have automatic exchange guessing enabled. You end up with W6RK's Precedence, Check, and Section "pre-filled" and you have to type over these or use Ctrl-W on each field.

See the Bug Report #154 for details. Any chance of a fix before the contest starts at 2100Z this Saturday?

If not, I suppose an easy workaround would be to disable exchange guessing, as it's not very useful in the Sweepstakes, where you can work a station only once regardless of band. But, I don't see any way to disable it completely. It seems one of the following three choices has to be checked?

  Tools, Data Entry, Exchange Guessing,

    a.. Pressing the spacebar
    b.. Automatically
    c.. After timeout

It seems like having none of these checked should also be an option, to completely disable it.

In the mean time, selecting either the first or the last Exchange Guessing option could minimize the inconvenience.

  73,
  Bob, N6TV
