I would further recommend that Users only obtain the CTY_CT_MOD.DAT File by
going to OPTIONS-->DATA FILES-->COUNTRY FILES, selecting CTY_WT_MOD.DAT, and
clicking on DOWNLOAD.

The File header on the CTY_WT_MOD.DAT file located at
http://download.win-test.files/databases/ is dated 26-Jul-2006 and
indicates that it is based on AD1C’s PREVIOUS CTY-1605 Release. File size
is 329,434 Bytes.

The File Header of the CTY_WT_MOD.DAT file that is obtained by Downloading
from within the Program is dated 29 August 2006 and indicates that it is
based on AD1C’s CTY-1606 Release. File size is 330,449 Bytes.

In fact this is true of all three COUNTRY DATA Files - CTY.DAT, CTY_WT.DAT,
and CTY_WT_MOD.DAT. The versions downloaded via the Win-Test Program are
newer that the versions located at http://download.win-test.files/databases.

I apologize if this is a Duplicate. We’re on vacation and my xyl didn’t
switch Outlook back to my Account – so my first attempt got sent out under
her Account Name. That’s why I’m resending it.

Juan

Go to menu/Options/DataFiles/Country Files

Choose the last option CTY_WT_MOD.DAT

With this database file when you enter W1/2/3/4 then the zone is 5, if you
enter W5/8/9/0 the zone is 4 and when you enter W6// the zone is 3.

If you choose Tools/Data entry/Exchange guessing/Automatically then when you
write a call in the callsign field, the zone is guessed automatically.

This will solve your problem.

I don't know what happened with the first two database files. They used to
work corretly, but now for all USA calls they guess the zone as 5.....

At least there is a solution - choose the last database country file

Hope to see all from CT3YA M2

Hello!

Here is Larrys reply to this question just a few mails ago...
------------------------------------

Hi

1/ The CheckPartial files (K5ZD SCP or whatever) DO NOT have any
relation with the guessed exchange !

2/ The DTB (DaTaBase) are used to guess zones, *if* the callsign are in
the file.

3/ If not, WT uses the CTY*.DAT file. You can choose which to use in the
Options / Data files / Country files... dialog.
