With appropriate mp3 settings, 48h easily fit on a CD (ie < 700 MB).

For ex : 16 bit, Mono, 11 or 8 kHz sampling, 20 kbps bit rate.

I know Mike F5IN does recording on the same machine he uses for Win-Test 
(it is not a laptop). I also have some experiences in SSB recordings, 
and it works flawlessly.
