If I remember, it's Alt_N. I don't remember of ctrl for this action.

Use the Ctrl-N (stands for _N_ote) shortcut to open a small dialog wnd 
where you can enter free text. This will be saved in the .not file 
(which is created on the fly), along the callsign, time etc... where was 
the cursor when you entered this text.
